LIM² Main Training Programme – writers / directors
Three workshops per year for writers-directors are held in our remote seaside village, allowing the selected participants to escape the turmoil of big cities. Immersing oneself in a rural environment fosters a more substantial immersion in the writing process and a different nature of collective work. Between the workshops and three online individual sessions, the participants are requested to deliver crucial steps of the delivery process.
Since 2026 onwards, the training programme include online sessions for a wider group of selected participants, allowing a higher number of European Film professionals to benefit from the innovative development tools generated by LIM² team.
The next call for projects will open in September 2026.
In LIM² 2027, around 50 projects will be selected to our three online toolbox sessions (2 hours each) and masterclasses, aimed at supporting the early stages of development through innovative tools and methodologies.
Among the 50 projects above, 16 will be invited to join the main LIM on-site programme (with a series of online meetings), dedicated to the development of their first, second, or third feature film.
LIM² welcomes applications from writers and directors who:
– Are from (or currently living in) the European Union, Eurimages countries, non-EU countries participating in the Creative Europe Programme, or the United Kingdom*
– Are developing a fiction feature film at an early stage
Applicants with backgrounds in theatre, documentary, or visual arts are also encouraged to apply.

LIM² Main Training Programme – Development Angels
Each year, a selection of Development Angels is invited to work alongside the filmmakers selected for LIM², following each stage of the development approach devised by the programme’s script consultants.
These Development Angels—creative producers, story editors, development executives, commissioning editors, and other development professionals—also benefit from dedicated masterclasses and workshop sessions designed to explore and deepen their understanding of specific development tools and methodologies.
Since 2026, LIM² has expanded the programme through an online workshop and masterclass, welcoming a larger group of selected participants from across Europe. This initiative allows more development professionals to gain insight into the innovative tools, approaches and methodologies that underpin the LIM² development process.
The next call for projects will open in January/February 2027.
LIM² has designed a training programme for film industry professionals — creative producers, story editors, development executives, commissioning editors… — who wish to strengthen their ability to follow the development phase of feature film projects.
LIM² welcomes applicants from, and/or living in, the European Union, Eurimages countries and non-EU countries participating in the Creative Europe Programme, as well as the United Kingdom*.
We have chosen the term “Development angels” as an alternative to the more restricted notion of “Story editors” because we strongly believe that the art of script development should be an across-the-board collaboration between script professionals, producers, sales agents, film-fund managers and everyone involved in the process. We believe that everyone can benefit from developing common tools and a common language together with writers and directors.
One of LIM²’s key positions is the need to collaborate at a European level in order to open up new horizons for humanism in a troubled world. Through our work with researchers in cognitive sciences, anthropology and other fields adjacent to storytelling in the StoryTANK, we have developed tools to better understand the creative process, but also to guide authors through the different phases of project and script development.
Leaning on our perceptions and our sensitive reception of stories and films, we try to demystify the act of writing itself in order to reinvest the moment when a story takes shape, finding its own emotions, architecture and singularity.
During that phase of the development process, we make extensive use of the wide range of possibilities offered by oral expression, employing it as a highly flexible digging tool for story development.
Our goal is also to help Development angels use limitations as a positive and creative tool to foster an exciting development process, and at the same time help the author shape and strengthen both the story and its meaning.
* LIM² 2026 is open to applicants who are nationals of, or residents in, the following countries: Albania, Algeria, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, Faroe Islands, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Jordan, Kosovo, Latvia, Lebanon, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Moldova, Montenegro, Morocco, the Netherlands, North Macedonia, Norway, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Serbia, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom.

LIM² Prewriting / Boosting ideas Workshops
Organised all over Europe in close collaboration with our partnering countries, and run by two international script-consultants from LIM² network, these prewriting workshops, sometimes including an online masterclass and individual follow-up sessions target national and local talents, who can be writers, directors or producers. They offer to tackle, test and boost ideas reinforcing them to become strong future film projects before entering the long run development or rewriting process.
